ULI Chicago, with support from and , convened a 2-day TAP on June 28-29, 2023 to reenergize and 鈥淓levate鈥 State Street from Wacker Drive to Ida B. Wells Drive. The panel developed recommendations to establish State Street as a vibrant, mixed-use district, for Chicagoans and visitors, in the heart of the City.
鈥淩eclaiming State Street as Chicago鈥檚 great street, a place for world-class culture, entertainment, education, and quintessential Chicago experiences for residents and visitors alike, is essential for the vibrancy and long-term health of the downtown and the City,鈥 said Mark Kelly, 蜜柚视频Panel Chair and former Commissioner, City of Chicago鈥檚 Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE). 鈥淭he 蜜柚视频panel is honored to present recommendations for the future of State Street, a street tied intimately to the rhythm of Chicago and all of its 77 community areas,鈥 he added.
鈥淪tate Street will remain an important corridor that innovates and serves as a driver for what other cities across the globe should aspire to achieve,鈥 said Michael Edwards, President and CEO of Chicago Loop Alliance. 鈥淥ur most recent planning efforts for State Street鈥檚 future began in 2019 before an abrupt disruption due to the pandemic, which caused us to encourage and gratefully welcome the experts at 蜜柚视频 and Department of Planning and Development to pick up the reins of strategically envisioning what the iconic street offers. We look forward to the potential of incorporating the TAP recommendations into the 2024 Central Area Plan.鈥
